\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Sasheer Zamata<\/strong><\/a> is coming out.<\/p>\n The 38-year-old Saturday Night Live<\/em> alum and Agatha All Along<\/em> actress revealed that she is a \u201clate-in-life\u201d lesbian in a new interview with Them<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n In the exclusive interview, she came out publicly for the first time, detailing her experience navigating life in the public eye, as well as possibly opening up the MCU to a new fanbase \u201cwho maybe didn\u2019t see themselves [represented] before.\u201d<\/p>\n On her identity today:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI guess I\u2019m one of those late-in-life lesbians. I just feel very comfortable and confident in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n On playing queer characters before recognizing her own sexuality:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI kept getting cast as queer women. I played a lesbian on Home Economics<\/em>. I played a lesbian on Woke<\/em>. I played a lesbian on Tuca & Bertie<\/em>. A lesbian on Last O.G.<\/em> I kept getting these roles. And this is before I myself was figuring out my identity. I was like, \u2019Whoa, what are these casting directors seeing that I\u2019m not seeing?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n On deciding to come out as a lesbian publicly:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNo one asks straight people about their journey of discovery, but I guess it felt like if I didn\u2019t say anything, I\u2019d be ignoring a part of me, and that doesn\u2019t feel very good. But yeah, I\u2019ve definitely had thoughts of, not necessarily keeping it a secret, but [that] there\u2019s no need to say anything about it.\u201d<\/p>\n On taking inspiration from Chappell Roan<\/strong><\/a> to keep boundaries with fans:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAs far as what people deserve to know? Nothing. They don\u2019t deserve anything. I feel very fortunate so far. I have fans who are good about respecting my privacy, and I hope that continues. And I hope artists like Chappell Roan <\/strong>who are very clear about boundaries keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n On singing with Patti Lupone<\/strong><\/a> in Agatha All Along: <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNo one told us there was going to be music when we got cast. It was a surprise to all of us.
