The Prolific: Christina Ricci<\/b>

I love Winona and fully and respect acknowledge her for being the pioneering goth girl she is, but as a child of the 90s, Christina Ricci was (and still is) the ultimate. She is THE definitive version of Wednesday Addams, and has more ~spooky roles under her belt than anyone else on the list.<\/p>\n

The Chaotic: Fairuza Balk<\/b>

I have a vivid memory of the first time I saw the cover of The Craft<\/i> VHS at the rental store – like any baby proto-goth, I was drawn to it like a luna moth to a black flame. Everyone else on the list has played multiple goth girls or the same recurring character, but Fairuza needed only one go to capture lightning in a bottle: the iconic Nancy Downs.<\/p>\n

The Euro(punk)goth: Lisbeth Salander<\/b>

This one is more about the character than the actresses that embodied them, Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara (there are no others, hush). Lisbeth is a more serious character than the others, no magic or hijinks here. But she is ultimately a “vengeful reaper for men who abuse women”, and that’s a mission I fully get behind. And I appreciate she’s also got great style, to boot. <\/p>\n
