Nicole Kidman<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s mother, Janelle Ann Kidman<\/strong>, has died.<\/p>\n

Nicole, 57, confirmed her mom\u2019s death in a statement read by Babygirl <\/i>director Halina Reijn<\/strong> during a Venice International Film Festival<\/a> panel. (Kidman made an early exit from the red carpet event in light of the news.)<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed<\/a>,\u201d Reijn, 38, read on Kidman\u2019s behalf on Saturday, September 7. \u201cI am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me and she made me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cI am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heart-breaking, and my heart is broken.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHollywood mourned many celebrities in 2024. Speed Racer star Christian Oliver (born Christian Klepser) died at the age of 51 during a fatal plane crash on January 5. Oliver was traveling home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters \u2014 Madita and Annik, whom he shared with wife Jessica Klepser \u2014 on January 4. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reijn then added, \u201cWe love you all, Nicole.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cause of death for Janelle has not been confirmed, with a rep for the Oscar winner telling Us Weekly <\/i>that she was \u201cheartbroken\u201d by the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family is heartbroken and asks for privacy at this time,\u201d Kidman\u2019s spokesperson told Us <\/i>in a statement.<\/p>\n

Nicole previously hinted that her mother was in ailing health.<\/p>\n

Instead, it\u2019s being the best mom possible to her four children. \u201cI just always wanted a child,\u201d Nicole, 56, told Vogue Australia in December 2017. \u201cI think from a very early age, I wanted a child. I knew that I was going to have [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re down here [in Australia] primarily to take care of my mother and to have her surrounded by her grandchildren,\u201d Nicole said on NPR\u2019s \u201cFresh Air\u201d<\/a> podcast in January 2022. \u201cSo luckily, last \u2014 yesterday, even though [COVID-19 strain] Omicron is raging through this country, we were able to take her into the gallery after hours and show her the Matisse exhibit, which, coming from a mother who\u2019s raised me in the arts was very, very \u2014 it was soothing balm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicole lives Down Under with her husband, country singer Keith Urban<\/strong>, and their teenage daughters Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13. (Nicole is also mom to two adult children with ex-husband Tom Cruise<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n
