Orlando Bloom<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about his drastic weight loss for his role in the new boxing movie, The Cut<\/em> \u2013 and how his fianc\u00e9e Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> reacted to his dramatic look.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very hangry,\u201d Bloom, 47, told People<\/em><\/a> at the movie\u2019s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, September 6. \u201cThe last three weeks in London, before we started filming, were just tuna and cucumber.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the film, directed by Sean Ellis<\/strong>, Bloom stars as an unnamed boxer who has to drop a significant amount of weight to compete.<\/p>\n

The Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> actor went on to tell the outlet that a nutritionist working on the movie \u201chad me on a strict regime to tear me down, so that we started the film at my lightest weight. And then I put on weight as we filmed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloom also revealed that Perry, 39, was \u201cfreaked out\u201d after watching The Cut<\/em> for the first time, but cried upon seeing it. \u201cShe was really moved. She knew what it took,\u201d he said before sharing that he \u201cliterally thought I was gonna die\u201d while on his strict regimen.<\/p>\n

While Bloom was filming, he said Perry took on the brunt of caring for their family. The couple share daughter Daisy Dove, whom they welcomed<\/a> in August 2020. Bloom is also dad to son Flynn, 13, whom he shares with ex Miranda Kerr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can do stuff like that when you\u2019re on your own, it\u2019s one thing about being single,\u201d his Cut<\/em> costar Caitriona Balfe<\/strong> told People<\/em> of the toll it takes on both the actor and their family while working. \u201cWe were all younger before we had families [and] you can kind of throw yourself into something. But when you have to come home, and you have to be a parent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloom and Perry were first romantically linked<\/a> in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes afterparty.<\/p>\n
