Katie Gaudreau<\/strong> has recalled the \u201csplit second\u201d her life changed forever when she found out her brothers, Johnny <\/strong>and Matthew Gaudreau,<\/strong> were dead.<\/p>\n

Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, lost their lives<\/a> in a bike collision on Thursday, August 29, just one day before Katie was set to walk down the aisle with her fianc\u00e9 Devon Joyce.<\/strong> The brothers were set to serve as groomsmen in their sister\u2019s wedding.<\/p>\n

Katie reflected on the moment she discovered the devastating loss<\/a>, sharing a poignant post via Instagram<\/a> on Thursday, September 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat day,\u201d she wrote. \u201cRight in the middle of getting ready for the best day of my life, the unthinkable happens that will change my life forever. I remember a week ago being in the hotel sitting with family and texting Devin about how we forgot to practice our dip. To think that was our biggest worry at this moment when in just a split second and a phone call later our lives would forever change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katie added: \u201cRemember to tell your people you love them. I would do anything to tell my big brothers I love them one more time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Off the ice, the NHL player enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, Meredith, and their two children, Noa and Johnny. Tragedy struck the Gaudreau family, however, when Johnny and his younger brother, Matthew Gaudreau, were killed while [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Accompanying the post\u2019s caption were a throwback photo of the family during their childhood as well as a second image with words which bore similarities to Katie\u2019s caption.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat day,\u201d the words read. \u201cRight in the middle of our life, on an ordinary day, the unthinkable happened. Everything went from ordinary to chaotic and there I stood, in the mess of it all, knowing there will now forever be a before and an after. That day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnny, who played hockey for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his younger brother, Matthew, died after being struck by a vehicle one day earlier.<\/p>\n

The brothers, who played college hockey and in the minor league, were in New Jersey to serve as groomsmen for Katie\u2019s wedding that weekend, which did not go ahead due to the tragedy.<\/p>\n

In a post shared via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 4, Katie said she and her fianc\u00e9 are confident they\u2019ll feel her late siblings\u2019 support<\/a> when they eventually reschedule their ceremony.<\/p>\n
