Kid-free and fine! John Cena<\/strong><\/a> opened up about his plans for the future and the former WWE star revealed that kids aren\u2019t a part of those plans for him and his wife.<\/p>\n John, who married Shay Shariatzadeh<\/strong><\/a> in October 2020, told Shannon Sharpe<\/strong> that he and Shay, 35, have had \u201copen conversations\u201d about having children during an appearance on \u201cClub Shay Shay<\/a>\u201d on August 21. The Playing With Fire<\/em> actor admitted the topic of kids was a \u201ctough one to talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe [decision to not have kids] immediately puts you in a category, and we can\u2019t help but judge. [It\u2019s] human nature and we\u2019re all judgmental,\u201d John explained. \u201cI\u2019d like to believe that I operate under the construct that everyone\u2019s OK living their life. I can tell you this is not like a knee-jerk reaction. I\u2019ve thought long and hard about this.\u201d<\/p>\n When Shannon, 56, asked the Vacation Friends<\/em> star\u2019s conversation with his wife was a difficult one to have, John said it wasn\u2019t. He revealed that after previous failed relationships, he learned to ask questions about serious topics on the first and second dates.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was great because we got to lean into those uncomfortable conversations and address this stuff,\u201d John said. \u201cNow, we\u2019ve actually built this foundation where whenever one of us is feeling bothered, nothing\u2019s off the table. We handle them right then and there and nothing is too uncomfortable to be unapproachable.\u201d<\/p>\n John also explained that he simply didn\u2019t have the desire to have children<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want them,\u201d The Suicide Squad<\/em> actor admitted. \u201cI\u2019m 47, I don\u2019t have them. I\u2019ve gotta tell you, it\u2019s not the easiest out there because, you know, a lot of why we\u2019re here is to reproduce. \u201d<\/p>\n John continued, \u201cI have a certain curiosity about life and I also know the investment that it takes. My biggest fear is, as someone who is driven, many times stubborn and selfish, I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity, but I don\u2019t think I\u2019m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it needs to be a great parent.\u201d<\/p>\n The Sisters<\/em> star said that he wants to \u201clive life for all that it is\u201d and he \u201cstill [has] a lot to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this year, John gushed about his relationship with Shay during an interview with WSJ Magazine<\/em><\/a>. The Blockers<\/em> star called her his \u201cmost prized possession<\/a>\u201d and revealed what he thought to be keys to a happy marriage.<\/p>\n \u201cHonesty, communication, genuine love, gratitude and vulnerability have helped us tremendously,\u201d John told the publication in an interview published on July 8.<\/p>\n However, for the most part, the former pro wrestler tends to stay tight-lipped on his relationship with his wife.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have core values which we both believe in, and one of those is keeping our information to us and those extremely close to our inner circle,\u201d John said during an appearance on Hoda and Jenna in May 2023. \u201cI couldn\u2019t be happier, but I think a way for us to keep our intimacy is by keeping it intimate.\u201d<\/p>\n Before John and Shay met while he was filming Playing With Fire<\/em> in 2019, he was in a long-term relationship with Nikki Garcia<\/strong> (formerly Nikki Bella).
