In an interview with Esquire Winona Ryder revealed that Harvey Weinstein did not like her and she ‘offended’ him by extended her hand while greeting him.
\u201cThe one time I was supposed to have a meeting with Harvey Weinstein<\/b>, I went to the Miramax office and I extended my hand <\/b>and he shook my hand and I sat on the couch and we had a conversation and I left. And afterwards I got like screamed at<\/b> [by an agent]. \u2018What the f*ck did you do?\u2019 I was like, \u2018What?\u2019 Apparently, I offended him because I extended my hand<\/b>?<\/i>\u201d
He also barged into her trailer<\/b> during the production of \u201cThe House of the Spirits\u201d (1993<\/b>) and urged her to star in his adaptation of the play \u201cLittle Voice.\u201d When she suggested he cast Jane Horrocks instead, because she had starred in the role onstage in London, \u201che got very weird and he left. I think I knew a little bit too much<\/b>. He did not like me.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\nWinona added that she had \u201ca couple of difficult experiences\u201d in her 20s with people \u201cwho were just blatantly sexually harassing<\/b>\u201d her, and then \u201cagain in my thirties,\u201d which has allowed her to relate to Weinstein\u2019s victims and added to her her disillusionment with Hollywood<\/b>. \u201cI was lucky because I was known<\/b>, so it didn\u2019t happen as much as maybe it would have if I had been a struggling actor, but I remember this feeling in your mind: you\u2019re negotiating, you\u2019re thinking about what\u2019s going to happen if you say something. You\u2019re working it out while this person is being extremely creepy<\/b>.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n
