Brad Pitt<\/a>, 60, in the new movie, which tells of loan fixers who get assigned to the same job \u2013 and the New York Times reported the A-listers were paid more than $35 million each for their work in the action comedy.<\/p>\nBut while speaking alongside Brad at the Venice Film Festival ahead of the thriller\u2019s world premiere, George has now said about the newspaper story: \u201c(It was) an interesting article and whatever her source was for our salary, it is millions and millions and millions of dollars less than what was reported. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I am only saying that because I think it\u2019s bad for our industry if that\u2019s what people think is the standard bearer for salaries. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think that\u2019s terrible \u2013 it\u2019ll make it impossible to make films.”<\/p>\n
\nGeorge\u2019s comments come amid Apple\u2019s decision to not give \u2018Wolfs\u2019 a wide cinema release in the US.<\/p>\n
\nInstead, the streamer has chosen to show it on a limited number of movie screens for one week before making the film available on its online service.<\/p>\n
\nGeorge said in Venice about the decision \u2013 which could have a huge impact on the movie\u2019s profits: \u201cYes, we wanted it to be released (in cinemas.) <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe\u2019ve had some bumps along the way, that happens. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen I did \u2018The Boys in the Boat\u2019, we did it for MGM, and then it ended up being for Amazon and we didn\u2019t get a foreign release at all, which was a surprise.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere are elements of this that we are figuring out\u2026 we\u2019re all in this industry and we\u2019re trying to find our way post-Covid and everything else, and so there\u2019s some bumps along the way.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt is a bummer of course, but on the other hand, a lot of people are going to see the film and we are getting a release in a few hundred theatres, so we\u2019re getting a release. But yeah, it would\u2019ve been nice if we to have a wide release.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u2018Wolfs\u2019 will be in cinemas from 20 September and available to stream on Apple TV+ a week later.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
