There\u2019s more to The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a> finalist Marcus Shoberg<\/strong><\/a> than meets the eye \u2013 and he\u2019s not the \u201cgreat guy\u201d he seems to be on the show, one of his exes exclusively tells Life & Style<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you first meet Marcus, he\u2019s great \u2013 calm and clever, the same way he is on the show,\u201d the source reveals. \u201cYou fall in love with him pretty fast. But after a few months, the real Marcus comes out. He is a toxic boyfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ex said that Marcus, 32, \u201chas cheated\u201d in the past and \u201cusually goes on dating apps and Snapchat while in a relationship.\u201d She also added, \u201cMultiple of his exes have ended their relationships with him after finding that out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenn Tran<\/strong> has fallen hard for Marcus and even told him that she loved him during their fantasy suite date<\/a>. He was the first person who she used the \u201cL\u201d word with, although she later also told Devin Strader<\/strong> that she loved him too. While Devin, 28, reciprocated those feelings, Marcus has admitted to struggling with whether or not he\u2019ll be ready to propose by the final rose ceremony.<\/p>\n

In a preview for the September 3 finale, Marcus tells Jenn, \u201cI know that I love you and I don\u2019t want to give up on us.\u201d However, he also notes, \u201cI\u2019m struggling,\u201d to which Jenn tells him in frustration, \u201cWe\u2019re running out of time.\u201d Marcus and Devin are the final two men this season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another source exclusively told Life & Style<\/em> that Marcus was still talking to several of his exes before he left to film The Bachelorette earlier this year. \u201cRight before going on the show, he called [his most recent ex] to say, \u2018I miss you, I love you, but I don\u2019t know what to do because right now I\u2019m applying for The Bachelorette. But I am not sure anymore now that I\u2019m talking to you,\u2019\u201d the insider shared. \u201cHe implied that they should get back together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marcus was also nowhere near ready to settle down<\/a> before appearing on the dating show, another ex said. \u201cBefore he left, he proclaimed, \u2018I don\u2019t date. I\u2019m not the man I want to be,\u2019 and said he is not ready for anything serious,\u201d she revealed. \u201cHe made excuses as to why, such as working on his career, saving money, etc. And then he went right on the show! There\u2019s no way he is there to get married. If he wasn\u2019t ready a week before filming, what would make him ready now?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenn, on the other hand, has made it clear that she\u2019s ready for an engagement. \u201cI feel like when you start on the journey, you\u2019re so hopeful for an engagement,\u201d she told People<\/em> in July. \u201cAnd then, as you go through the journey, it\u2019s like, what [does] an engagement really mean to you? Is it just a ring, or is it a commitment? What I really was looking for was a lasting partner, so I think my definition of that really changed throughout the journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also confirmed that she\u2019s \u201cvery happy\u201d with how things panned out for her on the show.<\/p>\n
