{"id":121916,"date":"2024-08-30T13:48:28","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T13:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/30\/prince-william-prince-harry-face-off-at-family-funeral-how-it-went\/"},"modified":"2024-08-30T13:48:28","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T13:48:28","slug":"prince-william-prince-harry-face-off-at-family-funeral-how-it-went","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/30\/prince-william-prince-harry-face-off-at-family-funeral-how-it-went\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince William &#038; Prince Harry Face Off At Family Funeral: How It Went"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>It\u2019s been over a year since Prince William and Prince Harry were in the same room together, and two years since they\u2019ve spoken to each other in earnest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That was when their beloved grandmother Queen Elizabeth died in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sadly,  another death in the family forced these brothers together again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At first, it sounded as if Prince Harry\u2019s still wasn\u2019t ready to take the leap and confront William.<\/p>\n<p>Rumor was that the young <a data-wpil-monitor-id=\"150\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2021\/02\/meghan-markle-vs-royal-family-feud-heats-up-fans-wonder-if-it-wi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">royal wanted to avoid \u201cdrama\u201d for the sake of their mother\u2019s family<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But then he turned up anyway. He died of undisclosed causes on July 29 at the age 82.<\/p>\n<p>Given Harry\u2019s close ties with his aunt and cousin, who he reportedly had been in contact with since Robert\u2019s passing, he was considering returning to the UK to attend his uncle\u2019s funeral.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After much hemming and hawing, he did in fact show up at the funeral.<\/p>\n<p>Both Harry  and William went to the service at St. Mary\u2019s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, on Wednesday, Aug. 28, according to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/royals\/30157931\/prince-william-harry-reunite-uncle-funeral-robert-fellowes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Sun<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A family friend said they were \u201cvery happy to confirm both princes were there,\u201d per\u00a0<em>The Sun<\/em>. They reportedly both sat in the back but did not sit near one another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWilliam\u00a0and Harry were both there but we never saw them speak to each other and they were keeping their distance,\u201d another attendee added, according to\u00a0<em>The Sun.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-why-harry-almost-didn-t-show\">Why Harry Almost Didn\u2019t Show<\/h2>\n<p>It was most people\u2019s understanding that Harry was not going to make the trip. <\/p>\n<p>According to initial reports, he told his family at the time, including his late mother Diana\u2019s brother, Charles Spencer, that he\u2019d come only \u201cif it doesn\u2019t cause too much drama\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to a pal of Harry\u2019s, it was always unlikely that his <a data-wpil-monitor-id=\"157\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/02\/prince-harry-prince-william-reunion-father-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brother Prince William<\/a> and\/or his father, King Charles, wouldn\u2019t attend the service. Harry has not seen his father since his impromptu visit after <a data-wpil-monitor-id=\"160\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/02\/king-charles-breaks-silence-on-stunning-cancer-diagnosis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles announced his cancer diagnosis<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He has not seen his brother since <a data-wpil-monitor-id=\"161\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2022\/10\/meghan-markle-prince-harry-banned-from-charles-coronation-because-of-harrys-memoir\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles\u2019 coronation<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There have been no reports of Charles making an appearance, but William reportedly came and sat in the back of the church, hoping to stay out of sight. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-why-all-the-drama\">Why All The Drama?<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cIn normal times it would be unimaginable that Harry would not be there to support Jane. Of course he would want to be there. It will be a huge gathering of the Spencer clan,\u201d Harry\u2019s friend told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/lord-robert-fellowes-has-died-will-prince-harry-return-for-his-uncles-funeral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the<\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/lord-robert-fellowes-has-died-will-prince-harry-return-for-his-uncles-funeral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Daily Beast<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut these are not normal times and it may well be that everyone feels Harry\u2019s attendance would just create too much drama. It will be very sad for him if he can\u2019t make it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the end, reports claimed that Prince Harry decided against the trip for \u201csecurity concerns\u201d. For another, she is currently busy trying to get a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2024\/04\/meghan-markle-begging-celebrity-friends-to-help-promote-new-lifestyle-brand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"162\">lifestyle brand<\/a> and cooking show off the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But perhaps more significantly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2021\/01\/prince-harry-is-heartbroken-over-family-split-close-friend-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"152\">Prince Harry still does not feel that his family<\/a> would be safe if they accompanied him across the pond.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Harry is still at war with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2021\/12\/meghan-markle-wins-messy-legal-battle-against-british-tabloid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"153\">British tabloids<\/a> and the lies he claims they write about his wife continuously.
