\u201cI say, \u2018Oh right, ok. Well, I\u2019ve filmed the Three Tenors before, and you can\u2019t get more of a prima donna than an opera singer.\u2019<\/p>\n
\nBut Craig said he got wound up by James asking for what he called a \u201cs***\u201d jokes on his presenting cards to be rewritten as he didn\u2019t want to read it.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cIt came to a point where he had to read from a card. It was kind of a joke in there, and he just looked at it like, \u2018That\u2019s not funny, that\u2019s not funny. It\u2019s s***, we have to rewrite that.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t know \u2013 maybe he was having a bad day or the writing\u2019s not up to scratch, but I definitely thought, \u2018Man, somebody wrote that, not nice to do that.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut television isn’t for the faint-hearted and sometimes you have to take those knocks on the chin.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCraig stressed that while the other panellists on the show were easy-going and friendly there was a \u201canxiety\u201d on set as people were aware of the time.<\/p>\n
\nHe said he was working with the crew to try and figure out how to keep everyone from hanging around too long, but James \u201cpiped up\u201d and \u201ctreaded all over his toes\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nThe director added: \u201cWe were working it out, when old b*****lugs pipes up: \u2018What the f*** is going on here? It\u2019s obvious what you do \u2013 you put a camera there, you put a camera there \u2013 it\u2019s so obvious how you shoot it, you\u2019re stupid.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe also accused the host of being 45 minutes late back to the studio after the exchange, and concluded: \u201cI hope I never, ever work with (James) again.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJames was last year accused of \u201cstealing\u201d one of Ricky Gervais\u2019 jokes and apologised to the owner of Balthazar restaurant in New York for allegedly verbally abusing its staff when his wife Julia Carey, 43, got an egg-yolk omelette containing egg-white.<\/p>\n
\nHe was branded a \u201ctiny cretin of a man\u201d and banned by owner Keith McNally, 71, before he lifted his ban on James once he said sorry for his behaviour.<\/p>\n
\nJames also apologised to Ricky, 61, for \u201cinadvertently\u201d using one of his 2018 routines on \u2018The Late Late Show\u2019, which he is due to quit hosting this month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
