The inaccurate reports stemmed from a single support document, originally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neowin.net\/news\/microsoft-finally-officially-confirms-its-killing-windows-control-panel-sometime-soon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spotted by <em>Neowin<\/em><\/a>. Microsoft has now updated the support document to make it clear that Control Panel isn\u2019t in danger of being removed from Windows anytime soon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">\u201cThe Control Panel is in the process of being deprecated in favor of the Settings app,\u201d said Microsoft in its support note last week. While Microsoft has been working on moving Control Panel items to the Settings interface for more than a decade, this seemingly small update to a support document triggered headlines about the Control Panel being removed \u201csoon.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">\u201cMicrosoft finally officially confirms it\u2019s killing Windows Control Panel sometime soon\u201d said <em>Neowin<\/em>, \u201cMicrosoft formally deprecates the 39-year-old Windows Control Panel\u201d declared <em>Ars Technica<\/em>. Many others reported that the end of the Control Panel was near, but over the weekend Microsoft updated it support note to make it clear it\u2019s merely in the continued process of moving items over to the Settings app.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">\u201cMany of the settings in Control Panel are in the process of being migrated to the\u00a0Settings\u00a0app,\u201d says Microsoft. It offers up a lot of settings in an easy to use interface where you don\u2019t have to dig into multiple levels to find what you\u2019re looking for.
