Marcus Shoberg<\/strong><\/a> had a hometown date with Jenn Tran<\/strong> on The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a>, but she didn\u2019t meet his parents when he took her to Washington for the day. The absence of Marcus\u2019 parents, Gerald Shoberg <\/strong>and Dawn Shoberg<\/strong>, left fans wondering if the reality star\u2019s relationship with his family is strained.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause Marcus is adopted, he doesn\u2019t have that connection to his parents,\u201d a source exclusively tells Life & Style. \u201cHe is closer to his dad than he is his mom. He butts heads with his mom.\u201d<\/p>\n On The Bachelorette, Marcus, 32, opened up about how his birth parents left him and his sister at daycare one day and never came back to pick them up. He revealed that he and his sister, Gabriella, were in foster care as children. \u201cFamilies would try us on for size and there was a lot of times I thought I was gonna have a mom and dad, and then they would change their mind,\u201d he explained. \u201cMe and my sister would end up back in the foster home.\u201d<\/p>\n He did not specify what happened when he and Gabriella were finally adopted by Gerald and Dawn. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say he\u2019s close [with his parents] since he\u2019s been out of Minnesota since he was 18,\u201d a second source shared. \u201c[Gerald and Dawn] are on the older side and they are definitely homebodies.
