Android users participating in a pilot program can now add their California driver\u2019s licenses to Google Wallet. The \u201cmobile driver\u2019s license\u201d program is currently open to 1.5 million Californians, and previously only allowed digital IDs in the state\u2019s \u201cCA DMV Wallet\u201d app for iOS and Android.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s never been easier to keep a digital driver\u2019s license and identification card in California,\u201d said Governor Gavin Newsom in a statement<\/a> yesterday, \u201cThe state continues to work to offer convenience for those opting into the mobile driver\u2019s license program, now with the option of using Google Wallet.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n California announced earlier this month that it will also allow<\/a> Apple Wallet digital IDs soon. Those in the pilot will still have to carry their physical IDs, and outside of \u201cselect retail locations and TSA airports,\u201d law enforcement, state government agencies, and businesses are not yet accepting digital IDs, according to the California DMV\u2019s site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
