\u201cI always talk about Fargo<\/em> as a tragedy with a happy ending, but the tragedy has to be real. And that moment where Dot shoots Roy but doesn\u2019t finish him, the audience knows if you don\u2019t finish that guy, something awful is going to happen,\u201d Hawley said. \u201cAnd so it\u2019s played as a tragedy from that point on. I didn\u2019t choose suspense. And if you\u2019re trying to follow the rules and you\u2019re going up against someone who doesn\u2019t, there\u2019s a real danger that you\u2019re going to get yourself killed. So it was a hard thing to do, but in the end, it felt necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
