Kerry Washington<\/strong> <\/a>and Tony Goldwyn<\/strong><\/a> have earned our vote for friendship goals.<\/p>\n

After signing up to be part of Shonda Rhimes<\/strong>\u2019 ABC series Scandal<\/i><\/a>, both actors quickly discovered they had a special kind of chemistry that doesn\u2019t happen on every project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never did a chemistry read with Tony,\u201d Washington told People<\/i><\/a> in June 2024 when acknowledging their immediate bond and connection. \u201cI will go anywhere Tony tells me to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

From 2012 to 2018, Washington played Washington D.C. fixer Olivia Pope while Goldwyn played President Fitzgerald Grant. After their Scandal<\/i> characters pushed through elections, controversial headlines and even a steamy affair, both parties continued to remain close friends off camera.<\/p>\n

On April 5, 2012, millions of viewers were first introduced to Olivia Pope and President Fitz when Scandal<\/i> premiered as part of ABC\u2019s TGIT lineup. When the show kicked off, Washington became the first Black woman to headline a network drama in 40 years.<\/p>\n

The ABC drama quickly changed the landscape of TV \u2014 even after it concluded in 2018 after 7 seasons. Created by TV mogul Shonda Rhimes, Scandal follows Olivia Pope as she launches a crisis management firm. She left her position as [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

January 2015<\/b><\/h3>\n

While Olivia\u2019s love story with Fitz took center stage for several seasons of Scandal<\/i>, she also had a brief romance with Jake Ballard (Scott Foley<\/strong>). During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live<\/i><\/a>, Goldwyn had a hilarious reaction to rumors he got jealous of sex scenes involving Washington and Foley.<\/p>\n

\u201cI literally blocked it out because I\u2019m so incredibly jealous of how good looking Scott Foley is,\u201d he joked to host Andy Cohen<\/strong>. \u201cI really have trouble watching their love scenes. It\u2019s, like, watching the woman you love have sex with another man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Washington and Goldwyn joined Rhimes for a real presidential experience as they stepped out to attend the 102nd White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

While Washington likes to keep her family life out of the spotlight, Goldwyn couldn\u2019t help but praise his costar and friend as a parent as she prepared to welcome her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talk about it a lot. I\u2019m always sensitive to give people advice because, what do I know? We talk about our kids and she\u2019s really, she\u2019s always pumping me,\u201d he told Entertainment Tonight<\/i><\/a>. \u201cShe\u2019s thrown herself into motherhood with so much passion and enthusiasm and joy.
