However, a streaming business insider exclusively tells Life & Style<\/em> that it\u2019s only a temporary reprieve and the show is likely on borrowed time as bosses can\u2019t afford to keep paying their exorbitant salaries in the long term.<\/p>\n \u201cKris wants the show to go on forever, but the economic realities of the streaming world are creeping up on her whether she likes it or not,\u201d the source explains to Life & Style<\/em>. \u201cThat means everything \u2013 marketing budgets, fees, episode counts \u2013 is getting tighter in the name of [a streaming service like Hulu] making a profit<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Kris, 68, \u201chas to adapt to the times and make a smaller episode order work for her and the girls, for the sake of keeping the show going.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite needing to make compromises with the streaming service, the insider says she won\u2019t necessarily have to take a pay cut herself. \u201cBecause she isn\u2019t just a producer, she\u2019s also a star and her name is on the label,\u201d the source says. \u201cStars still get paid like stars in streaming, but it\u2019s everything else about these shows that\u2019s shrinking.\u201d<\/p>\n After season 5 of The Kardashians<\/em> premiered in May, the premiere episode secured an impressive 3.9 million views globally in its first four days on Hulu, Disney+ and Star+.
