\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Lionsgate is speaking out after removing the trailer for the forthcoming movie Megalopolis<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n A trailer for the movie, from director Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong><\/a> and starring the likes of Adam Driver<\/strong><\/a>, premiered on Wednesday (August 21). It opened by calling out critics<\/a> who have previously reviewed Francis<\/strong>\u2018 movies. <\/p>\n However, some of the quotes appear to be fabricated, and others were incorrectly attributed. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The studio shared a statement with Variety<\/a> about the decision to remove the trailer from the internet. <\/p>\n \u201cLionsgate is immediately recalling our trailer for Megalopolis<\/em>,\u201d they said. \u201cWe offer our sincere apologies to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong> and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our vetting process. We screwed up. We are sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n The trailer opened by revisiting some negative reviews of Francis<\/strong>\u2018 movies, with the note: \u201cTrue genius is often misunderstood.\u201d<\/p>\n Owen Gleiberman<\/strong>, who works for Variety, commented on being incorrectly quoted in the trailer. <\/p>\n \u201cEven if you\u2019re one of those people who don\u2019t like critics, we hardly deserve to have words put in our mouths. Then again, the trivial scandal of all this is that the whole Megalopolis<\/em> trailer is built on a false narrative,\u201d he said. \u201cCritics loved The Godfather<\/em>. And though Apocalypse Now<\/em> was divisive, it received a lot of crucial critical support. As far as me calling Bram Stoker\u2019s Dracula<\/em> \u2018a beautiful mess,\u2019 I only wish I\u2019d said that!
