That would have changed the whole film,\u201d Andrew<\/strong> shared during a Q&A at the 2024 Edinburgh Film Festival<\/em>, according to Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, negotiations with Jake<\/strong>\u2018s team became too much and the Oscar-nominated actor was taken out of the running for the role.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember having a conversation with Jake Gyllenhaal\u2019s lawyer about his needs,\u201d Andrew<\/strong> recalled. \u201cIt was never going to work.\u201d <\/p>\n Oscar<\/strong>, 45, and Alicia Vikander<\/strong><\/a> were then cast in Ex Machina<\/em>, but Andrew<\/strong> admitted that their respective star power at the time failed to \u201craise the money through international sales.\u201d<\/p>\n Oscar<\/strong>\u2018s lead role in 2013\u2032s Inside Llewyn Davis<\/em> eventually led to Ex Machina <\/em>landing the funding to make the movie.<\/p>\n \u201cWe decided to make the film with Universal International and they had a film with Oscar Isaac, the Coen brothers film, and they believed it would win Oscars, so they thought he was a winner,\u201d Andrew<\/strong> explained. \u201cThey also had an Alicia Vikander film that they thought was gonna be a winner as well, so they backed us.\u201d <\/p>\n If you missed it, Jake<\/strong> recently shared an update on the sequel to one of his hit movies<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
