The 43-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Topanga Lawrence on the teen sitcom ‘Boy Meets World’ – has revealed that she’s been diagnosed with “a form of breast cancer”.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the ‘Pod Meets World’ podcast, Danielle explained: “I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer. <\/p>\n
“It is very, very, very early. It\u2019s technically stage zero. <\/p>\n
“To be specific, just because I like too much information all the time, I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS with micro-invasion.”<\/p>\n
\nDespite this, Danielle is remaining optimistic, insisting that she’s “going to be fine”.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I\u2019m going to be fine. I\u2019m having surgery to remove it.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m going to be on some follow-up treatment. I\u2019ve had to make a lot of decisions over the last couple of days.”<\/p>\n
\nDanielle is thankful that the issue has been found “so, so, so early”, and the actress has encouraged her fans to get themselves checked out, too.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage zero is because the day I got my text message that my yearly mammogram had come up, I made the appointment.<\/p>\n
\n“They found it so, so, so early that I\u2019m going to be fine. I hope it will encourage anyone to get in there.”<\/p>\n
\nDanielle also acknowledged that her treatment could hinder her podcast series.<\/p>\n
\nThe actress shared: “I have some big decisions ahead of me about what I want to do for treatment. I don\u2019t have all the answers yet.<\/p>\n
\n“I did want to let our dear listeners know. We\u2019re going to try and have it not affect things, but [there are] possibilities we may have to put things on hold depending on what treatments I go through.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
