Sof\u00eda Vergara<\/b><\/a> responded to ex-husband <\/span>Joe Manganiello<\/b><\/a>\u2019s claims that they didn\u2019t divorce over differing views over parenthood.<\/p>\n Back in January, Sof\u00eda, 52, claimed that she and Joe, 47, decided to part ways in July 2023 because he wanted kids and she didn\u2019t. However, he fired back claiming her comment wasn\u2019t true<\/a> one year after they called it quits.<\/p>\n One month after Joe weighed in on the issue, Sof\u00eda reacted to her ex\u2019s statement. \u201cAt the end of the day, you never even know if that\u2019s what he said for real,\u201d she told Variety<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Wednesday, August 14. \u201cI\u2019ve read a lot of things that I\u2019ve said that I\u2019m like, \u2018Huh?\u2019 What am I gonna do, call him? I don\u2019t know if he even said that.\u201d<\/p>\n Their divorce was finalized in February, and both Sof\u00eda and Joe are ready to move on. During the interview, she explained that she has been able to find happiness by following the mantra, \u201cDon\u2019t think too much.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you sit too much with your thoughts, that\u2019s when people get depressed and people get paralyzed,\u201d the Modern Family<\/em> alum continued. \u201cI always keep active<\/a>. What the f\u2013k can we do? Nothing. We have to keep living.\u201d<\/p>\n The drama began back in January when Sof\u00eda told El Pa\u00eds<\/span><\/i><\/a> that their \u201cmarriage broke up because my husband was younger\u201d and that \u201c<\/span>he wanted to have kids and I didn\u2019t want to be an old mom<\/span><\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI feel it\u2019s not fair to the baby,\u201d Sof\u00eda \u2013 who is already the mother to son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara<\/strong>, 32 \u2013 said. \u201cI respect whoever does it, but that\u2019s not for me anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n Six months later, Joe told Men\u2019s Journal<\/em><\/a> that Sof\u00eda\u2019s claims about their disagreement over having children were \u201csimply not true.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe did try to have a family for the first year and a half. And we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated,\u201d the True Blood<\/em> alum said at the time. \u200b\u201dI said, \u2018If you\u2019re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I\u2019ll know what this is, and that\u2019s okay.\u2019 But that wasn\u2019t the case with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn\u2019t work out. And I didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n While Joe acknowledged that he does want to have kids, he said the disagreement \u201cwasn\u2019t inevitably why everything ended.\u201d He continued, \u201cIt\u2019s because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTo be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, \u2018Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I\u2019m gone?\u2019\u201d he continued. \u201cThat\u2019s never who I was.\u201d<\/p>\n Following their split, Joe made his relationship with girlfriend Caitlin O\u2019Connor<\/strong> Instagram official in February. Meanwhile, Sof\u00eda began dating Dr. Justin Saliman<\/strong> in late 2023.<\/p>\n
