Gena Rowlands<\/a> has died. The actress, best known for her role in\u00a0<\/span>The Notebook<\/span><\/em>, died at her California home on Aug. 14,\u00a0<\/span>TMZ\u00a0<\/em>reports<\/a>. She was 94.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Per the outlet, both Rowlands’ husband, Robert Forrest, and daughter,\u00a0Alexandra\u00a0Cassavetes, were by her side when she died. Rowlands son,\u00a0<\/span>The Notebook\u00a0<\/span><\/em>director Nick\u00a0Cassavetes, has been at his mom’s house throughout the week, the outlet reports.<\/span><\/p>\n Rowlands shares Alexandra and Nick, as well as daughter Zoe, with her first husband, John\u00a0Cassavetes, who died in 1989. She married Forrest in 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n A cause of death has yet to be determined. ET has reached out to Rowlands’ rep for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n Rowlands’ death comes two months after <\/span>Nick revealed<\/a> his mom was battling Alzheimer’s disease. It’s the same condition that Rowlands’ <\/span>The Notebook\u00a0<\/span><\/i>character, the older version of <\/span>Rachel McAdams<\/a>‘ Allie, suffers from.<\/span><\/p>\n “I got my mom to play older Allie, and we spent a lot of time talking about Alzheimer’s and wanting to be authentic with it, and now, for the last five years, she’s had Alzheimer’s,” Nick told<\/span>\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/span><\/em>. “She’s in full dementia. And it’s so crazy — we lived it, she acted it, and now it’s on us.”<\/span><\/p>\n The Emmy-winning actress’ last credited role was in 2017 for the short\u00a0<\/span>Unfortunate Circumstances<\/span><\/em>. In addition to her role in\u00a0<\/span>The Notebook<\/span><\/em>, she also had memorable roles in\u00a0<\/span>Hope Floats, The Skeleton Key, Paris, I Love You, Something to Talk About<\/span><\/em>, and much more. She has a total of 106 acting credits to her name.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
