Henry Winkle<\/strong><\/a>r\u2019s visit across the pond in 2023 was a trip to remember thanks to Queen Camilla<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were invited to Ascot, the royal races,\u201d Winkler, 78, explained to People<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Monday, August 12. \u201cYou heard about it in My Fair Lady<\/em>, you hear about it all through history, and we were invited.\u201d<\/p>\n

Winkler and his wife, Stacey Weitzman<\/strong>, were making a stop in England \u2014 as well as Ireland and Scotland \u2014 while promoting his 2023 memoir, Being Henry<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Winkler noted that King Charles III<\/strong> and Camilla, 77, \u201carrive[d] in an open carriage pulled by these incredible horses.\u201d Afterward, they had a \u201cthree-course lunch,\u201d where he received a request.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen all of a sudden, a rumor or a buzz goes through the room: \u2018The Queen wants to meet Henry.\u2019 So we walk down onto the paddock onto the green, and all of a sudden, these 12 men in forest green cutaways march out,\u201d he said. \u201cShe comes in white in the middle of them and walks up. I tip my hat, and I talk to her like she was my Aunt Liz.\u201d<\/p>\n

Winkler noted there was \u201cno disconnect\u201d and \u201cno royalty,\u201d adding, \u201cThere is just this lovely woman who knows about my children\u2019s books, the Detective Duck series.\u201d<\/p>\n

The annual event features several horse races taking place at the Ascot Racecourse in England over a week long period. During each morning of the Royal Ascot, members of the royal family arrive in a procession with horse-drawn carriages.<\/p>\n

For this year\u2019s event in June, several royal family members made an appearance, including Charles, who was joined by Camilla on the opening day.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tQueen Camilla had a winding romantic journey before she settled down with King Charles III. Camilla and Charles were introduced by a pal when she became a debutante in London\u2019s high society in 1965. The pair began to date in the 1970s before he had to leave for his Royal Navy service, and Camilla moved [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The following day, however, Charles was notably absent. His son Prince William<\/strong> was photographed laughing with his cousins<\/a> Princess Beatrice <\/strong>and Princess Eugenie<\/strong> as they rode in carriages on the second day. Camilla rode in a separate carriage.<\/p>\n

Charles returned the next day and was seen greeting stepson<\/a> Tom Parker Bowles<\/strong> between equestrian races. (Camila shares Tom and daughter Laura Lopes<\/strong> with her ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

Charles\u2019 appearance at the event came as he continued to undergo treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer. While he paused his public facing duties after confirming his diagnosis in February, he resumed them in April.<\/p>\n
