Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a> subtly shaded her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock<\/strong><\/a>, in a teaser for her new song \u201cMine.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSomeone\u2019s gonna show you \/ How a heart can be used \/ Like you did mine,\u201d the American Idol<\/em><\/a> alum sang a capella in a snippet via Twitter<\/a> on Tuesday, April 4, also noting that the track will be released on April 14.<\/p>\n Ahead of announcing her single announcement, Clarkson revealed that her new album, Chemistry<\/em>, would be available<\/a> soon after working on it<\/a> for \u201cclose to three years\u201d \u2014 during her messy split from Blackstock<\/a>, 46.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s called Chemistry<\/em> because I was trying to find a word \u2014 also, it might be one of the songs on the album \u2014 that really described the whole thing,\u201d the Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a> host explained in a video via Twitter and Instagram<\/a> on March 26. \u201cI didn\u2019t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some \u2018I\u2019m angry,\u2019 \u2018I\u2019m sad\u2019 \u2014 just one or two emotions. So there\u2019s the good, the bad, and the ugly kinda thing going on in it.\u201d<\/p>\n Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed in June 2020 that Clarkson filed for divorce<\/a> from the music manager after nearly seven years of marriage. The \u201cBecause of You\u201d singer cited \u201cirreconcilable differences\u201d as the reason for their split<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThey clashed on so many levels and being in quarantine together heightened their problems to the point of no return,\u201d a source told Us<\/em> at the time.<\/p>\n Following their breakup, the exes were engaged in a lengthy legal battle over the next two years as they fought over their assets, finances and custody of their two children: daughter River, 8, and son Remington, 6<\/a>. The Voice<\/em><\/a> coach ultimately agreed<\/a> in their 2022 divorce settlement to pay Blackstock a one-time amount of $1.3 million in addition to $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024, according to documents obtained by Us<\/em>.<\/p>\n Clarkson retained primary custody<\/a> of their children. Blackstock, for his part, will have visitation of his kids once a month.
