Jordan Chiles<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 sister is fuming over the controversy surrounding the gymnast\u2019s bronze medal win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the Court of Arbitration of Sport ruled that Chiles was granted a third-place finish in individual floor exercise in error<\/a> on Saturday, August 10, Jazmin Chiles<\/strong> said via Instagram Story that the drama around Chiles\u2019 first-ever individual medal was unprecedented in Olympic history.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the history of the Olympics, no one has ever been stripped of their medal for this,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThere are only two ways you can be stripped of your medal: cheating or doping. She did neither.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chiles won third over two Romanian gymnasts after Team USA questioned<\/a> her original judges\u2019 score. An inquiry into the score at the time bumped up Chiles\u2019 results just enough to get her on the podium over Romania\u2019s Ana Maria B\u0103rbosu<\/strong> and Sabina Maneca-Voinea<\/strong>. Romania appealed the decision to the CAS and that court found the inquiry had been granted even though Team USA had run over the time limit for challenges by four seconds.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe 2024 Paris Olympics have created several picture-perfect moments since kicking off on July 26. Perhaps the most viral snap came during the third round of the men\u2019s surfing competition on July 29. After completing a barrel ride in Teahupo\u2019o, Tahiti, Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina soared in the air and pointed his finger toward the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cFour seconds. Her bronze was stripped over four seconds that would have never needed to happen if the judges did their job,\u201d Jazmin wrote of the decision. \u201cRacism is real, it exists, it is alive and well.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting that Chiles has not been stripped of her bronze medal. The Romanian team has asked that the standings be changed so that all three gymnasts can share third place. Ultimately, it is up to the International Olympic Committee to decide how to respond to the ruling.<\/p>\n

Jordan\u2019s family members say that the controversy around her win has brought out an intense wave of racist comments against both Jordan and her family members. Chiles\u2019 mother Gina shared<\/a> via X on Friday, August 9, that bigots have regularly attacked her daughter since the competition ended.<\/p>\n
