French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati<\/a> went viral during the 2024 Paris Olympics when it looked like his crotch got in the way of his jump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old first-time Olympian posted a TikTok<\/a> video of himself staring blankly while eating lunch in the Olympic Village. Using the \u201cSad Spongebob Music\u201d soundtrack, he wrote in French over the clip, \u201cPOV: tu fais plus de buzz pour ton paquet que pour tes perfs.\u201d In English, this means, \u201cPOV: You create more buzz for your package than your performances.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJe sais pas trop si je dois le prendre bien ou pas du coup \ud83d\ude02 #olympics #paris2024,\u201d he added in the caption, which translates to, \u201cI don’t really know if I should take it well or not \ud83d\ude02.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans flooded the comments section to join in on the joke. \u201cA win is a win,\u201d several users wrote while another added, \u201cIt’s a HUGE accomplishment.\u201d Someone else urged Calvin Klein to \u201cgive this man an advertising campaign immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ammirati caught global attention during his pole vault heat at the 2024 Summer Olympics on August 3 when his bulge seemed to hit the crossbar. The image spread online and his crotch became a hot topic, with many feeling bad that his manhood might have cost him a medal and put him in 12th place. In reality, Ammirati’s bulge didn’t cause him to fail the jump. He first hit the bar with his shins, then his knees.<\/p>\n

The Olympian didn’t mention his viral fame in a statement released by the French Athletics Federation right after the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s a big disappointment,\u201d he said. \u201cThe conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to play with the audience. I was almost there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ammirati also expressed frustration with the results in a joint Instagram post with the French sports academy Envol.<\/p>\n

While the athlete didn’t win a medal at the Games in his home country, he did get a lucrative job offer.<\/p>\n

Ammirati’s bad luck and viral fame caught the eye of adult entertainment company CamSoda, who offered him $250,000 for a 60-minute cam show. CamSoda Vice President Daryn Parker made the offer to Ammirati to show off his \u201cgoods\u201d for the big payday.<\/p>\n
