Team USA rugby star Ilona Maher<\/strong><\/a> has been feeling the love while competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to be honest, I get so many DM slides that \u2014 and it\u2019s not a lot of even people who are into me \u2014 it\u2019s just nice messages,\u201d Maher, 27, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cSo maybe they\u2019re in there. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Overwhelmed with her inbox, Maher suggested fans and potential love interests alike take up a different route to reach her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI get so many, I can\u2019t sort through it,\u201d she said. \u201cSo if you are [interested], please, I don\u2019t know, find a better way. Send me a letter or something. Send a pigeon my way.\u201d<\/p>\n

They\u2019re usually 20-somethings in peak physical fitness, forced into close proximity amid a high-stress, high-stakes environment. It\u2019s ripe for extracurricular activities. Maher, who previously compared the Olympic Village to the Love Island villa, noted that she didn\u2019t have time to date around. After all, she was busy winning a bronze medal. (Maher and her teammates earned the U.S. its first Olympic medal<\/a> in women\u2019s rugby sevens on July 30.)<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what, everyone keeps asking me that after I won a medal and I was like, \u2018This is a little busy people. Little busy here winning a medal,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI haven\u2019t, honestly, it has been truly crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

If Maher hadn\u2019t won a medal, she noted that maybe she\u2019d have time to pursue romantic connections \u2014 but she wouldn\u2019t want to rewrite history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d rather win a medal than go on a few dates in the Olympic villa,\u201d she said. \u201cI think people have to realize everyone else is competing in the villa as well, so it\u2019s very hard to even meet people to go out and hang out with people. We\u2019re all focused on our games and then once we win, maybe [we] can have some fun. So the Olympics isn\u2019t done, but I\u2019ve been a busy working girl.\u201d<\/p>\n
