Anne Hathaway<\/strong><\/a> is celebrating the Princess Diaries 2<\/em> \u2014 and Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 two decades after the film first premiered.<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy 20th anniversary to #PrincessDiaries2 and @kellyclarkson\u2019s Breakaway!\u201d Hathaway, 41, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday, August 7. Alongside the post was a clip of the music video for Clarkson\u2019s hit song, which was featured on the film\u2019s soundtrack.<\/p>\n

In the video, Clarkson steps out of a limo and poses for photographers on the red carpet at the world premiere of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement<\/em>\u00a0<\/i>before heading into a movie theater to watch the film. Later, she rewatches the coming of age film while taking a turbulent plane ride.<\/p>\n

\u201cQUEENS \ud83d\udc51,\u201d the official Instagram account for Clarkson\u2019s eponymous talk show wrote in the comments section of the post.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDoes the tiara still fit? Following two successful\u00a0Princess Diaries\u00a0films, devoted fans have been clamoring for more. \u201cThere\u00a0is a script for the third movie. There is a script,\u201d\u00a0Anne Hathaway, who played Princess Mia Thermopolis in the 2001 flick, revealed during a January 2019 appearance on\u00a0Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.\u00a0\u201cI want to do it.\u00a0Julie [Andrews]\u00a0wants [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hathaway also shared a series of throwback images from her time filming the sequel, including behind the scenes moments with costars Chris Pine<\/strong> and Julie Andrews<\/strong> and director Gary Marshall<\/strong>, who died in 2016 after a battle with pneumonia.<\/p>\n

The first Princess Diaries<\/em> initially hit theaters in 2001, with the sequel premiering three years later. Hathaway portrays Mia Thermapolis in the franchise, a less-than-popular high school girl who finds out she is the Princess of Genovia from her grandmother Queen Clarisse (Andrews). The second film follows Mia as she accepts the crown as queen.<\/p>\n

After years of rumors of a third installment, The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> confirmed in November 2022 that another movie was in the works at Disney. One month prior, Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight<\/em> that she was \u201cpulling\u201d for a Princess Diaries 3<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work,\u201d Hathaway told the outlet at the time. \u201cWe would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
