\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Nelly<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s lawyer has bashed his recent arrest in Missouri. <\/p>\n The 49-year-old rapper was arrested on Wednesday morning<\/a> (August 7) in the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles. He was charged for drug possession after officers found alleged ecstasy pills on him. <\/p>\n He was also charged for driving without insurance. <\/p>\n In a new statement, Nelly<\/strong>\u2018s lawyer Scott Rosenblum<\/strong> responded to the situation. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Scott<\/strong> told Page Six<\/a> that the musician was \u201ctargeted by an overzealous, out of line officer.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cAfter winning several jackpots, at a venue where Mr. Haynes frequently visits and entertains at its amphitheater; instead of just supervising the transfer of Mr. Haynes\u2019 winnings, this officer felt compelled to needlessly run a check for warrants,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n He continued, explaining, \u201cThe officer informed Mr. Haynes a background check was mandated when a player won over a certain amount; Mr. Haynes knew this to be untrue as he had won several jackpots for similar or greater amounts including one just a week prior without incident or a background check.\u201d<\/p>\n He said that the Nelly <\/strong>was searched \u201cwithout probably cause.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI am 100 percent confident this case will go nowhere. And we will be asking for an inquiry into this officer\u2019s conduct,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Nelly\u2018s arrest comes nearly two months after it was reported he and Ashanti<\/strong><\/a> secretly got married<\/a> at the end of 2023.
