Jack Black<\/a> doesn’t think Tenacious D is done for good. ET’s Denny Directo spoke to the 54-year-old actor at Tuesday’s <\/span>Borderlands <\/span><\/em>premiere in Los Angeles, and he addressed his recent decision to <\/span>cancel the tour<\/a> of his and Kyle Gass’ band.<\/span><\/p>\n “I love Tenacious D… We had to take a break, but I love the D. Everybody takes a break sometimes,” Black told ET. “We’ll be back.”<\/span><\/p>\n The situation started last month when Gass made a joke after\u00a0<\/span>the assassination attempt<\/a> against <\/span>Donald Trump<\/a>. Gass made the comment when Black told him to make a birthday wish while onstage at a Tenacious D concert.<\/span><\/p>\n “Don’t miss Trump next time,” Gass said in response.<\/span><\/p>\n Gass issued an apology after his remark, calling it “highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake.”<\/span><\/p>\n “I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone,” he continued. “What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement [sic]. I profoundly apologize to those I\u2019ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”<\/span><\/p>\n Black spoke out on social media shortly thereafter, writing, “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”<\/span><\/p>\n “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold,” Black continued. “I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”<\/span><\/p>\n While Tenacious D may be back some day, for now, Black is focused on promoting <\/span>Borderlands<\/span><\/em>, which is based on the video game of the same name.<\/span><\/p>\n “My boys love the game, I love the game, so it was a no brainer,” Black told ET at the film’s premiere. The actor shares Tommy, 16, and Sammy, 18, with his wife of nearly two decades,\u00a0Tanya Haden.<\/span><\/p>\n While Black’s kids are fans of the source material,\u00a0<\/span>Borderlands\u00a0<\/span><\/em>director Eli Roth assured viewers that they need not play the game to enjoy the movie.<\/span><\/p>\n “It’s for people who love the game. It’s obviously different experiencing it in a theatre, but I wanted to make a movie where you didn’t have to know anything about it, you didn’t have to do homework, you just want to go and have a fun time and laugh your a** off,” Roth told ET. “It’s a ride. It’s a good time. Grab your bags of popcorn, turn off your brain and have fun. That was kind of movie I wanted to make.”<\/span><\/p>\n
