During the first season, fans and cast alike found it difficult to defend chef Ryan McKeown<\/strong><\/a> as he failed in the workplace and ended up at odds<\/a> with his coworkers.<\/p>\n Before the show aired, Aesha Scott<\/strong> hinted that her professional relationship with Ryan<\/a> quickly took a turn. \u201cIf arrogant was, like, personified, it would be Ryan. He\u2019s a very arrogant man,\u201d the New Zealand native exclusively shared with Us Weekly\u00a0<\/em>in March 2022, referring to Ryan as \u201cdifficult\u201d to get along with. \u201cI think that that\u2019s something that everyone \u2014 not just as a chef \u2014 it\u2019s kind of difficult to be around anyone that\u2019s arrogant.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Below Deck Mediterranean<\/em> alum<\/a>, it was easy for her to not get too affected by Ryan. \u201cFor me, I\u2019ve been doing yachting for a long time and every chef is a difficult toddler. And then when the attitude changes, as I said, they lose focus.\u201d<\/p>\n Jason noted that he had no problem letting someone go if they weren\u2019t doing<\/a> a good job, saying, \u201cIn the yachting industry, there\u2019s gonna be ups and downs.
