CrowdStrike refutes Delta Air Lines\u2019 allegations that the cybersecurity firm is to blame for a dayslong flight disruption following last month\u2019s catastrophic system outage<\/a>, saying that the airline rejected repeated offers to help restore impacted systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

CrowdStrike reiterated its apology to Delta in a letter<\/a> responding to public comments about the airline pursuing legal claims, but said it \u201cstrongly rejects any allegation that it was grossly negligent or committed willful misconduct.\u201d CrowdStrike says the litigation threat \u201chas contributed to a misleading narrative that CrowdStrike is responsible for Delta\u2019s IT decisions and response to the outage,\u201d noting that competing airlines restored their operations much more swiftly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cCrowdStrike\u2019s CEO personally reached out to Delta\u2019s CEO to offer onsite assistance, but received no response,\u201d CrowdStrike lawyer Michael Carlinsky said in the letter. Carlinsky said CrowdStrike had made several other attempts to provide assistance, including an offer for onsite support, but was told that resources for the latter were not required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShould Delta pursue this path, Delta will have to explain to the public, its shareholders, and ultimately a jury why CrowdStrike took responsibility for its actions \u2014 swiftly, transparently, and constructively \u2014 while Delta did not,\u201d said Carlinsky. The letter also notes that CrowdStrike\u2019s contractual liability is capped \u201cin the single-digit millions,\u201d and that the company will \u201crespond aggressively\u201d to litigation \u201cif forced to do so.\u201d We have reached out to Delta for comment and will update this story if we hear back.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
