There was nothing going on with Elaine and Jerry on Seinfeld<\/i><\/a>, but according to star Julia Louis-Dreyfus<\/strong><\/a>, there almost <\/i>was.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, the network wanted it! They wanted a \u2018will-they, won\u2019t-they,\u2019 all that crap,\u201d Louis-Dreyfus, 63, said in a Sunday Times <\/i><\/a>profile published on Sunday, August 4. \u201cBut Larry [David<\/strong>, the show\u2019s creator] was just immovable on that point. The show was built on doing things that were outside the norm, so doing something stereotypical would have been atypical of the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seinfeld <\/i>aired for nine seasons between 1989 and 1998, following four single friends in New York City. Louis-Dreyfus portrayed Elaine opposite Jerry Seinfeld<\/strong>\u2019s Jerry. Their crew was rounded out by George Costanza (Jason Alexander<\/strong>) and Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

At the time, Louis-Dreyfus was one of the few women on the set.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s hard to believe, but 30 years ago, a show about nothing quickly became a show that everyone talked about. When Seinfeld debuted on July 5, 1989, no one imagined that the NBC sitcom, created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld about friends living in Manhattan, would go on for nine seasons. It spanned 180 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was very male, but that felt familiar to me so I knew how to navigate it,\u201d the actress recalled to the British newspaper. \u201cWhen I started out in show business in the 1980s, there was no awareness about trying to \u2026 I was going to say diversify as if adding women is a diversification, but it is. But now there is awareness, and that\u2019s a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s been more than two decades since Seinfeld<\/i> wrapped, it has remained a pop culture staple<\/a>. The cast also hasn\u2019t ruled out a reunion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I have a little secret for you about the ending, and I can\u2019t really tell it,\u201d Seinfeld, 70, quipped during an October 2023 standup show<\/a>. \u201cHere\u2019s what I\u2019ll tell you, you can\u2019t tell anybody. Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending. It hasn\u2019t happened yet. Just what you are thinking about, Larry and I have also been thinking about. So, you\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Days later, Louis-Dreyfus was asked about a reunion possibility during an interview with England\u2019s The Guardian<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n
