Before booking the trip, the girl&#8217;s mum, Lucy, applied for the family&#8217;s passports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Passport Office denied Khaleesi&#8217;s passport request for fear of infringing on Warner Bro.&#8217;s trademark; they insisted the family receive permission from the media conglomerate for her passport to be approved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Lucy&#8217;s solicitors discovered that while there is a trademark for Game of Thrones, it is for goods and services &#8211; but not for a person&#8217;s name.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Khaleesi&#8217;s mum remarked: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t understand and felt frustrated. If she could get a birth certificate, would something not have been flagged up then? I never thought you could trademark a name.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; After sharing her story with the news, Lucy received an apology from the Passport Office, who explained there had been a misunderstanding as the recommendation that staff originally gave applies only to people changing their names.
