After taking home gold for the team\u2019s event, <strong>Simone Biles<\/strong>, <strong>Jade Carey<\/strong>, <strong>Jordan Chiles<\/strong>, <strong>Suni Lee<\/strong> and <strong>Hezly Rivera<\/strong> officially nicknamed their team the \u201cGolden Girls\u201d \u2013 and the reason may be different than you think.\n<\/p>\n<h2>2024 Women\u2019s Gymnastics Team A.K.A. the \u2018Golden Girls\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Simone, Jade, Jordan and Suni showcased their best performances at the Paris Games on July 30, 2024. They came out on top and took home Gold medals for Team USA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay on the real though, the official team name is golden girls,\u201d Simoe wrote via <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Simone_Biles\/status\/1818440392846541297\" target=\"_blank\">X<\/a> hours after taking the mat. \u201c(because oldest olympic team).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Texas native credited coach <strong>Cecile Landi<\/strong> for their new moniker.<\/p>\n<p>Simone reshared the news the following day via Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficial team name just dropped: GOLDEN GIRLS,\u201d she wrote alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C-GCVRpOh_7\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">photos<\/a> of the medal ceremony with Team Italy, who took home silver and Team Brazil, who snagged the bronze title.<\/p>\n<p>Not to be dramatic, but everyone who is anyone was in Simone\u2019s comment section.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWOW! So blown away by you ALL,\u201d <strong>Reese Witherspoon<\/strong> wrote with a warm touch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeannie Mai<\/strong> commented, \u201cBeen telling my daughter they yall are THEEE Golden Girliessss.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>The \u2018Golden Girls\u2019 Are Like Olympic-Winning Sisters<\/h2>\n<p>Not only have their routines gone viral, but so have their sweet interactions on the sidelines. Fans caught a glimpse of a freshly golden medal awarded Suni and Simone talking about plans, which included making TikToks with their prestigious awards. Hezly did not compete in the finals as she scored the lowest among her peers.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption \">\n<div class=\"ratio-based-placeholder\" style=\"padding-bottom:84.25%;\"><\/div><figcaption class=\"photo-credit\"><span class=\"credit\">Getty<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During the team event, the women were in synch as a unit. That said, it took a slightly uncomfortable conversation to strengthen their bond. The night before the competition, Simone sat teammates Jordan and Suni down for an honest chat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never done that before. It was really good; it was really needed,\u201d Simone said during a press conference following their big win, according to Olympics.com. \u201cI think we were all full of nerves and we weren\u2019t communicating with each other. That was the nature of the conversation: Just letting each other know that we can lean on each other because we\u2019ve been there. It\u2019s really hard to be doing what we were doing, and it\u2019s easier if we can lean on each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it just helped us, helped me at least have a better understanding. Just know that I can lean on them whenever I need it. And it helped me a lot,\u201d Suni added.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan celebrated being an Olympic gold medalist via Instagram on July 31, 2024, and shared a photo of her and her teammate parading the American flag after their final score was revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere them girls at!!!!\u2026. Oh wait we right here as Olympic champions!!!
