As Team USA takes on the 2024 Paris Olympics, the American athletes have already made an impression at the summer Games.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Olympics kicked off on Friday, July 26, with an illustrious opening ceremony that took place entirely outdoors on the River Seine and featured performances from the likes of Celine Dion<\/strong><\/a> and Lady Gaga<\/strong>. Additionally, basketball star LeBron James<\/strong> and tennis champ Coco Gauff<\/strong> took on the task of Team USA\u2019s flagbearers for the opening ceremony<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gauff, 20, shared in a Wednesday, July 24, episode of Today<\/em> that she had \u201cno words\u201d after she was bestowed with the honor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to cry in front of my teammates,\u201d she added. \u201cWhen Chris [Eubanks]<\/strong> told me, I was holding it in, but when I called my mom, I started crying because I think it\u2019s even more special that so many incredible people \u2014 even now I get emotional thinking about it \u2014 but so many incredible people just think that I am worthy of this. It means a lot, truly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe 2024 Olympic Games are drawing near, and five U.S. gymnasts just bought their tickets to Paris. After four days of trials, the women\u2019s gymnastics team was officially revealed on June 30. Led by Olympic veteran Simone Biles, the power-packed team is ready to live up to their legacy. Alongside Biles is Tokyo\u2019s reigning all-around [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While France won the first gold medal of the Olympic games, Team USA<\/a> quickly nabbed its first few medals at the start of the Games on Saturday, July 27. Kassidy Cook<\/strong> and Sarah Bacon<\/strong>\u00a0took home silver for synchronized diving, marking the United States\u2019 first medal in Paris. Cyclist Chloe Dygert<\/strong> won the bronze medal for the Individual Women\u2019s Time Trial in road cycling. Swimmer Katie Ledecky<\/strong> surprised fans when she lost the gold in the Women\u2019s 400-meter Freestyle, but she still walked away with the bronze medal.<\/p>\n

Team USA has won over 100 medals at every Olympic Games<\/a> since 2004 and is now looking to exceed its winnings from the Tokyo Olympics, where it took home a total of 113 medals: 39 gold, 41 silver and 33 bronze.<\/p>\n
