Even these smaller E190s on JetBlue boast the seatback screens, live television and free Wi-Fi that are staples of the airline&#8217;s brand.<\/p>\n<p>But the aircraft (and its seatback screens, for that matter) more than show their age nowadays.<\/p>\n<div class=\"&#10;        EmailSignUp_container__qYzYT&#10;        undefined&#10;        EmailSignUp_isLoading__i_qm0&#10;      \"><picture class=\"EmailSignUp_graphic__zgpFm\"><source media=\"screen and (max-width: 767px)\" srcset=\"\/images\/EmailSignUp\/daily-mob.svg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/images\/EmailSignUp\/daily-dt.svg\"\/><\/picture>\n<div class=\"EmailSignUp_form__C8FWb\">\n<p>Daily Newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Reward your inbox with the TPG Daily newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Join over 700,000 readers for breaking news, in-depth guides and exclusive deals from TPG\u2019s experts<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/guide\/jetblue-trueblue-program\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>JetBlue TrueBlue program: Earn and redeem points, transfer partners and more<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>TPG flew the aircraft <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/reviews\/worst-seat-comparison\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as part of a 2021 search<\/a> to find the &#8220;worst airline seats in America,&#8221; though it generally drew better reviews than some of its counterparts.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"jet-blue-otherwise-focusing-on-existing-fleet\" class=\"jsx-2362441780 anchor\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"jsx-2362441780\">JetBlue otherwise focusing on existing fleet<\/h2>\n<p>Even as JetBlue bids farewell to its E190 fleet, the carrier is tapping the brakes on new jets.<\/p>\n<p>The airline announced a major shift Tuesday, revealing an agreement with Airbus to push 44 A321neo aircraft deliveries beyond 2030 \u2014 a deferral of nearly $3 billion in expenses.<\/p>\n<p>It comes as the airline has battled subpar financial performance in recent years and as prolonged maintenance (stemming from an engine issue at Pratt &amp; Whitney affecting numerous A320neo family aircraft) has complicated the carrier&#8217;s future plans.<\/p>\n<p>JetBlue expects to have an average of 11 aircraft grounded at any given point in 2024 \u2014 a number it expects will rise in 2025 and affect the airline (and other carriers) in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At this stage, we simply can&#8217;t afford to continue taking delivery of costly new aircraft that may need to be parked due to engine availability issues,&#8221; Hurley said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Pushing back those new aircraft deliveries will require changes in JetBlue&#8217;s plans though, leaders acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p>While not delaying the phase-out of its E190s, the carrier is planning to extend the life of a handful of A320 aircraft.<\/p>\n<h3>JetBlue aircraft types<\/h3>\n<p>JetBlue leaders note the sunsetting of the E190 will give the airline a simpler fleet of A220s and A320 family aircraft. Although, today, there remains a good bit of variance on what you&#8217;ll find within its A320 family of planes, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A321LR (long range) with Mint Suites and two Mint Studios<\/li>\n<li>A321neo with Mint Suites<\/li>\n<li>A321neo with updated interior<\/li>\n<li>A321 classic with legacy interior<\/li>\n<li>A321 classic with legacy Mint seats<\/li>\n<li>A320 with updated interior<\/li>\n<li>A320 classic with legacy interior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In any event, the A220 remains a better interior and passenger experience than the outgoing E190s.
