Tori Spelling has relived the moment she realised her best friend Shannen Doherty had died after her phone \u2018kept buzzing\u2019 at 7am<\/p>\n
The actress, 51, has been struggling with her grief over her former \u2018Beverly Hills, 90210\u2019 co-star\u2019s passing on 13 July aged 53 after she lost her years-long battle against cancer \u2013 and has now relived the horrific moment she learned she was gone.<\/p>\n
She said on her \u2018misSPELLING\u2019 podcast about her phone lighting up when she was asleep with her two of her children on Sunday, 14 July: \u201cIt kept going off. I checked the time, and it was 7am, and I knew immediately. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was\u2026 I was like, \u2018Oh my god. Somebody\u2019s passed, somebody important has died.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I took that moment not to go on social media\u2026 when I pulled up Google, I saw that Shannen had passed on Saturday night, and it was shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cFor everyone around the world that was going through something, whether it was cancer or any other kind of disease or ailment or connected to a hard time they were going through\u2026 they really did look to her for inspiration and power to carry on in the moments when they felt they couldn\u2019t \u2013 and I got to see that in person. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI got to see that in person her whole life, which is beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTori also recalled the first time she met Shannen aged 15 while filming the pilot for \u2018Beverly Hills, 90210\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI think Shannen and Brian (Austin Greene \u2013 who played David Silver on the show) were the first people that I met on set, and they were really, really welcoming. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe immediately took me under her wing. She gave me a big hug, walked me around, took me into the makeup trailer.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTori admitted she and Shannen didn\u2019t always agree, which she said led to \u201clost years\u201d between them before they reconnected and realised they were being \u201csilly\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cUltimately, we got that time to go back and say, \u2018None of that matters\u2019.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhat matters is that core friendship that we had, and we were able to get back to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
