Sam McKinney<\/strong><\/a> gave fans more of an insight into his life during an Instagram<\/a> Q&A amid his journey on The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a>. The season 21 contestant answered fan questions on Sunday, July 28.<\/p>\n When one person asked Sam, 27, what the \u201chardest thing\u201d he\u2019s ever had to overcome was, he replied, \u201cA failed engagement for sure.\u201d On the July 8 premiere of The Bachelorette<\/em>, Sam revealed his relationship history during his introduction package.<\/p>\n \u201cWe got engaged and had our life planned out ahead of us,\u201d he said while discussing the relationship. \u201cBut she ended up cheating on me and there was just no repairing that relationship. That was definitely the biggest heartbreak I\u2019ve ever experienced. But I wasn\u2019t going to let that situation right there be something that was going to stop me from chasing my dream, which is to be a husband, to be a father.\u201d<\/p>\n Sam had instant chemistry with Jenn Tran<\/strong>, which is why she gave him the first impression rose. \u201cThat feeling when you get the first impression rose from the prettiest girl,\u201d Sam wrote on Instagram after the first episode aired. \u201cI\u2019m so grateful for this experience and that I get to share it with you all.\u201d<\/p>\n A preview for the show\u2019s Monday, July 29, episode reveals that Sam will finally get his first one-on-one date with Jenn, 26, in Auckland, New Zealand, which will give him the opportunity to open up to her about what happened in his last relationship. However, there appears to be some tension between the two, as the preview shows Jenn getting frustrated with Sam when he answers a question for the both of them without consulting her first.<\/p>\n \u201cI think he needs to do a better job at reading my emotions right now,\u201d she says. \u201cI am clearly terrified and Sam\u2019s not reading my emotions at all.\u201d<\/p>\n Sam has been heavily featured<\/a> on this season of The Bachelorette<\/em> due to his tension with fellow contestant Devin Strader<\/strong><\/a> on the show. The men have not seen eye-to-eye and many viewers have expressed that they\u2019re not happy with Sam\u2019s behavior. During the Q&A, one fan asked the contractor how he\u2019s dealt with the hate he\u2019s been receiving online.<\/p>\n \u201cYou pour into family and friends and the people that truly know you and know your character and you listen to everything they have to say and that gives you your reassurance,\u201d Sam said. With all the hate, you just filter it. You take what you can, apply to yourself, make yourself better. And the things that you can\u2019t, they\u2019re just full of hate, you just throw \u2018em out the window. You can\u2019t do nothing about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Sam also divulged his most meaningful tattoo \u2013 an anchor that includes all of his siblings\u2019 initials and his parents\u2019 wedding date \u2013 and favorite Taylor Swift<\/strong> song (\u201cWildest Dreams.\u201d)<\/p>\n \u201cFamily is everything to me,\u201d the South Carolina resident added.
