Robert Downey Jr.<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has everyone talking \u2014 including his former costars.<\/p>\n

After Downey, 59, took to the stage<\/a> at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 27, to reveal he will play Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday<\/em> and Avengers: Secret Wars<\/em>, stars including Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo<\/strong> and Jeremy Renner<\/strong> were eager to share their thoughts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t get it, are you a baddie now?\u201d Paltrow, 51, commented on an Instagram<\/a> post shared by Downey on Saturday to recap his surprise news. The Sliding Doors<\/em> star made her Marvel debut in 2008 as Pepper Potts, the love interest of Downey\u2019s former characters, Tony Stark and Iron Man, in the superhero\u2019s namesake origin film.<\/p>\n

Ruffalo, 56, who portrayed another member of the Avengers, Bruce Banner (aka the Hulk), also commented on Downey\u2019s post, which included a video of Downey\u2019s Comic-Con reveal and a snap of the actor staring into the eyes of a new mask, captioned with \u201cNew mask, same task.\u201d<\/p>\n

Renner, 53, also voiced his approval, commenting on an Instagram<\/a> post shared by directors Anthony<\/strong> and Joe Russo<\/strong>, who were confirmed to direct the forthcoming Avengers<\/em> films, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongrats gentlemen!!! We\u2019ve missed you,\u201d Renner, who portrayed Hawkeye within the Avengers<\/em> franchise, commented on the post which included a series of photos from Comic-Con.<\/p>\n

Frank Grillo<\/strong>, who plays Brock Rumlow within the MCU, also commented on the Russo brothers\u2019 post, \u201cThey need you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Marvel Cinematic Universe boasts some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars, but not everyone loves their work in the blockbuster movies inspired by comic book superheroes. Thor star Chris Hemsworth recently called out fellow MCU actors who have appeared in the franchise but have subsequently criticized their involvement. \u201cIt\u2019s, like, \u2018They\u2019re films that are successful \u2014 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The post also attracted comments from further celebrities including Ted Lasso<\/em> star Hannah Waddingham<\/strong> who wrote, \u201cNow that is f\u2014ing cool!\u201d while Garrett Hedland<\/strong> posted three fire symbols to express his approval.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds<\/strong>, who portrays MCU superhero Deadpool, liked both Downey\u2019s and the Russo brothers\u2019 Instagram posts.<\/p>\n

The Russos also commented on Downey\u2019s post, \u201cWe\u2019ve always said green is your color\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
