Are Shiv (Sarah Snook<\/strong>), Kendall (Jeremy Strong<\/strong>), and Roman (Kieran Culkin<\/strong>) playing hardball with the GoJo deal? Or are they potentially ruining everything out of spite for Logan (Brian Cox<\/strong>)? That\u2019s the major question at the end of Succession<\/em> season four, episode two, as the Roy children join forces with Sandi (Hope Davis<\/strong>) and Stewy (Arian Moayed<\/strong>) in a bid to drive their father back to the bargaining table with Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/strong>) the day before the GoJo deal is supposed to go through. It also happens to be the day before Connor\u2019s (Alan Ruck<\/strong>) wedding to Willa (Justine Lupe<\/strong>), who appears to be getting cold feet\u2014although the Roy siblings barely have the capacity to pretend to care about Connor\u2019s impending nuptials.<\/p>\n On the latest episode of Still Watching,<\/em> hosts Richard Lawson<\/strong> and Chris Murphy<\/strong> try to suss out who on the show, if anyone, might have the purest intentions. \u201cIf anything, I trust Matsson more than anyone involved in the GoJo deal right now,\u201d says Murphy. \u201cHe seems like, as Roman said last episode, a 4chan weirdo, but he does not seem like a liar.\u201d<\/p>\n Matsson makes it very clear to Kendall on the phone that if they try to renegotiate the terms of the sale, he\u2019s going to walk. And yet, the Roy siblings\u2014particularly Kendall and Shiv\u2014seem more than happy to take that risk if it means they can squeeze a few more dollars out of him and hurt their father in the process. \u201cI think the kids think they have him figured out better than Logan does,\u201d says Lawson. \u201cBut I just don\u2019t know that.\u201d<\/p>\n More surprising than Shiv and Kendall\u2019s potentially reteaming with Sandi and Stewy to mess with their dad is the family\u2019s heart-to-heart, and the location in which it transpires. In a private room at Maru, a swanky karaoke spot in New York\u2019s Koreatown, Logan comes face-to-face with his children for the first time this season\u2014and a lot of Logan\u2019s bravado, demonstrated earlier in the episode on the floor of ATN, falls by the wayside. \u201cWe have seen some moments of emotional vulnerability on this show before\u2014and in this season, maybe especially. But that scene felt like something new, where [Logan\u2019s] walk-and-talk bluster is kind of gone,\u201d notes Lawson.\u00a0<\/p>\n In his own way, Logan tries to make amends with his kids. \u201cThere\u2019s no amount of words that he could possibly say to apologize for everything that he\u2019s put his kids through,\u201d Murphy notes. \u201cBut they\u2019re able to get at least a kernel of an apology.\u201d Time will tell if it\u2019s enough to keep them from blowing up his GoJo deal, but he seems to have made inroads with Roman at least.\u00a0<\/p>\n But is Roman entertaining his father\u2019s dangling ATN in front of him for the right reasons? Lawson isn\u2019t so sure. \u201cMaybe [Roman\u2019s] just trying to hold the family together out of pure business Joined by Vanity Fair<\/em> political correspondent Bess Levin,<\/strong> Lawson and Murphy also delve into the real-life inspiration for the dysfunctional Roys\u2014the Murdoch family\u2014and the stark similarities between that media dynasty and its fictional counterpart. \u201cThere are so, so, so many similarities between these two families,\u201d Levin says. \u201cAt the basic center of it, you have this patriarch running a global media empire. Rupert Murdoch<\/strong> has a child from his first marriage, Prudence,<\/strong> And as with the Roys, the interpersonal relationships between the Murdoch family members are decidedly messy. \u201cI believe, at this point, the relationship between James and Many questions loom heading into the third episode: Will the GoJo deal fall apart?
