The Boys<\/em>\u2019 fourth season ended on a nightmarish note<\/a> that made the show\u2019s upcoming final chapter seem like it\u2019s going to its most deranged. But during this year\u2019s San Diego Comic-Con, Amazon revealed that while The Boys <\/em>may be coming to an end, the larger franchise is about to get even bigger with a prequel series set in the distant past.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though The Boys <\/em>showrunner Eric Kripke was tightlipped about the show\u2019s series finale, he was all too excited to bring actor Jensen Ackles on stage during a panel to announce the forthcoming arrival of Vought Rising<\/em>, a new prequel series. Set in the \u201850s, Vought Rising <\/em>will chronicle the lives of Soldier Boy (Ackles) and Stormfront<\/a> (Aya Cash) \u2014 two of Vought\u2019s earliest and most powerful superhumans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a press release about the new show<\/a>, Kripke described Vought Rising <\/em>as a \u201ctwisted murder mystery\u201d that, in addition to being \u201csoaked in blood and Compound V,\u201d will delve into how Vought became a nefarious megacorporation. Paul Grellong is attached to showrun and executive produce the series, which does not yet have a projected premiere date.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
