Feeling the pressure. Lisa Kudrow<\/strong><\/a> revealed how acting alongside Jennifer Aniston<\/strong><\/a> and Courteney Cox<\/strong><\/a> on Friends<\/em><\/a> led to her own body insecurities.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought I was just really skinny,\u201d Kudrow, 59, said of her body perception as a young woman during an August appearance on the \u201cPopcrushed<\/a>\u201d podcast, which recently resurfaced. \u201cI can do whatever. [But] no, especially in high school [I thought I was skinny]. And I looked at pictures [at that time] and [would] say, \u2018Wow, pictures really distort reality.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The California native<\/a> explained that it \u201cwasn\u2019t until Friends<\/em><\/a> that I realized, \u2018Oh, I don\u2019t look like I thought I looked.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay on the NBC sitcom<\/a>, added: \u201cAnd that\u2019s what was so jarring, and that\u2019s when it was like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019ve got to actually lose weight? I have to diet? Shoot.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The Emmy winner pointed to her costars \u2014 whom she worked with from 1994 to 2004<\/a> \u2014 as the source of her insecurities.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was just seeing myself on the show and seeing myself in clothes and seeing Courteney and Jennifer in clothes,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd at first I thought, \u2018Oh, because they know, like, tailoring, so they can discuss it with the costume designer about where exactly to take something in.’\u201d<\/p>\n Kudrow remembered asking one of them to come to her fitting because they were like her \u201csisters\u201d and she trusted their opinions.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s when I would see, \u2018Oh, OK, it\u2019s not just about tailoring.\u2019 And I\u2019m not trying to say I was overweight, either. I was not,\u201d the Comeback<\/em> alum<\/a> explained. \u201cI just had no idea the shape of my actual body.\u201d<\/p>\n The P.S. I Love You<\/em> actress revealed that her body image shifted as she grew up<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe not till, like, my late 30s or 40s \u2026 I just realized, \u2018Oh no \u2014 it\u2019s OK. This is just what I look like. That\u2019s OK,’\u201d Kudrow concluded. \u201cDo what you need to do to be healthy, but this is your body [and] it\u2019s OK.\u201d<\/p>\n The Romy and Michele\u2019s High School Reunion<\/em><\/a> star previously opened up about how she struggled with body positivity when being compared to her Friends<\/em> castmates, noting that even though she was thin she didn\u2019t feel skinny.<\/p>\n \u201cYou see yourself on TV and it\u2019s that, \u2018Oh, my God, I\u2019m just a mountain of a girl,\u2019\u201d Kudrow said during a May 2019 appearance on the \u201cWTF With Marc Maron<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cI\u2019m already bigger than Courteney and Jennifer \u2014 bigger, my bones feel bigger.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0actress \u2014 who is three inches taller<\/a> than both Aniston, 53, and Cox, 58 \u2014 added: \u201cI just felt like this mountain of a woman next to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
