The Deadpool<\/em> franchise is known for its meta jokes, and Hugh Jackman<\/strong><\/a> is the butt of one in the highly anticipated third film.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is Logan. He\u2019s usually shirtless, but he\u2019s let himself go since the divorce,\u201d Ryan Reynolds<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 character, Deadpool, quips in Deadpool & Wolverine <\/em><\/a>\u2014 which hit theaters on Friday, July 26 \u2014 while introducing Jackman\u2019s Wolverine to two of his multiverse variants, the long-haired Nicepool and the canine Dogpool.<\/p>\n

The cherry on top of the joke is that Jackman\u2019s character is actually ripped, with his physique put on full display during the film\u2019s climax. (Costar Rob Delaney<\/strong> revealed earlier this month that Jackman, 55, did \u201c800 press ups in one day\u201d<\/a> on set.)<\/p>\n

Deadpool\u2019s comment appears to be a reference to Jackman\u2019s real-life divorce from his estranged wife, Deborra-Lee Furness<\/strong>. News broke in September 2023 that the couple were separating<\/a> after 27 years of marriage.<\/p>\n

Jackman and Furness, 68, met while filming the Australian TV series Correlli<\/em>\u00a0in 1995. They tied the knot one year later and adopted their kids \u2014 Oscar, 23, and Ava, 19 \u2014 in 2000 and 2005, respectively.<\/p>\n

Five months before announcing their breakup, Jackman gushed about Furness in a heartfelt Instagram tribute<\/a> for their 27th wedding anniversary. \u201cI love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life,\u201d he captioned a sweet photo in April 2023. \u201cYour laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following news of their separation, a source exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> that Jackman and Furness \u201cjust reached a point where they were more like best friends,\u201d adding, \u201cThere was no drama or fighting \u2014 not that anyone is aware of, anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
