Hannah Neeleman<\/strong> is best known for her social media handle, @BallerinaFarm, and her January 2024 appearance in the Mrs. World\u2014just 12 days after giving birth<\/a>. But she has also been identified with a phenomenon of extremely-online photogenic housewifery often called the \u201ctradwife\u201d movement\u2014even as critics point out<\/a> that many tradwife influencers are essentially running large advertising businesses. In a new interview with The Sunday Times<\/a>,<\/em> Neeleman says she doesn\u2019t actually relate to a larger movement, agreeing that her life as a mother of eight, with nine million Instagram followers, is far from traditional.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t necessarily identify with it,\u201d she said, \u201cbecause we are traditional<\/a> in the sense that it\u2019s a man and a woman, we have children, but I do feel like we\u2019re paving a lot of paths that haven\u2019t been paved before.\u201d She agreed when her husband, Daniel Neeleman<\/strong>\u2014who scarcely left his wife’s side during her interview, as the reporter is careful to note\u2014said she was a co-CEO of their farm business. \u201cSo for me to have the label of a traditional woman,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m kinda like, I don\u2019t know if I identify with that.\u201d<\/p>\n That doesn\u2019t mean she is completely comfortable calling herself a feminist<\/a>. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m a femin-,\u201d she said, before stopping herself. \u201cThere\u2019s so many different ways you could take that word. I don\u2019t even know what feminism means any more,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe try so hard to be neutral and be ourselves and people will put a label on everything. This is just our normal life.\u201d<\/p>\n Though the Neeleman and her family<\/a>\u2019s membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is widely known, it\u2019s not a central focus of the content she posts to her millions of followers. According to the Times,<\/em> it is a frequent topic of conversation at home. Daniel said that they both agree with Mormon teachings on\u00a0 \u201csexual relations\u201d and abortion. \u201cWe see the joy of having kids,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the sanctity of life,\u201d Hannah Neeleman added.<\/p>\n Neeleman also said her decision to grow her family has been influenced by prayer<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s very much a matter of prayer for me,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m, like, \u2018God, is it time to bring another one to the Earth?\u2019 And I\u2019ve never been told no.\u201d Six of Neeleman\u2019s eight children were unmedicated home births, which she has documented extensively on social media. Still, she said that she did enjoy the one time she gave birth with an epidural. \u201cIt was kinda great,\u201d she said with a smile.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
