Britney Spears reaches out to estranged sons<\/p>\n
\nThe 42-year-old singer shares Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, with her former husband Kevin Federline but they have a strained relationship due, in part, to the boys’ reported embarrassment about their mum\u2019s raunchy social media posts.<\/p>\n
\nA source told Us Weekly: “Britney has been reaching out to her sons more and wants to start spending more time with them when they are ready.”<\/p>\n
\nSean and Jayden moved to Hawaii with Kevin, 46, and his wife Victoria Prince, 41, plus their two children, in 2023.<\/p>\n
\nIt is thought at the time of her sons’ move to Hawaii Britney did not object.<\/p>\n
\nIn June, Kevin \u2013 who split from Britney in 2007 after three years of marriage \u2013 denied he had relocated to the island to take advantage of a legal loophole that would extend Britney\u2019s child support obligations. <\/p>\n
\nHe insisted his wife landed a job offer at a university, while he had DJ opportunities. <\/p>\n
\nKevin has largely maintained primary custody of the boys due to Britney\u2019s controversial 13-year conservatorship, which left her life and financial affairs and decisions in the hands of her father before it was ended in November 2021.<\/p>\n
\nIn her 2023 memoir \u2018The Woman in Me\u2019, Britney said she \u201cwent along\u201d with the binding agreement so she could have access to her sons, saying in the book:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBecause I played by the rules, I was reunited with my boys.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, speaking after it was reported Britney enjoyed a Mother\u2019s Day phone call this year with her sons after a long period of estrangement, Kevin\u2019s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Page Six: \u201cObviously a reconciliation or reunification is somewhat complex and can be a process that takes some time.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd the phone call was a good sign and a step in the right direction, but it\u2019s a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe lawyer denied widespread reports Britney had travelled to Hawaii to reunite with her boys.<\/p>\n
\nMr Kaplan added: \u201cWhile Kevin supports the boys having a relationship with their mother and is glad that the boys did finally have a phone conversation with her around Mother\u2019s Day, the reports that she flew to Hawaii and met with them are inaccurate.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
