For people who turn on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/3\/14\/24099937\/google-chrome-safe-browsing-cybersecurity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-phishing Enhanced Protection feature<\/a>, opting in to upload suspicious files for scanning in the cloud, it\u2019s also shifted to automatic scans, saying files sent for deep scans are 50 times more likely to be marked as malware.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">In response to widespread targeted cookie theft attacks on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/10\/21\/22737580\/google-youtube-channel-phishing-campaign-report-malware\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube channels<\/a> and other groups, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/3\/24\/23654996\/linus-tech-tips-channel-hack-session-token-elon-musk-crypto-scam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linus Tech Tips hacker takeover last year<\/a>, Chrome has also added a prompt to scan encrypted archive files such as .zip files that have a password.
