The money will fund 25 different initiatives led by state, municipal, and tribal governments as well as coalitions of local governments working to transition to cleaner energy and reduce greenhouse gas pollution. It\u2019ll fund a variety of different <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/inflation-reduction-act\/commonwealth-pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ways to decarbonize industrial facilities<\/a>, the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/kleinmanenergy.upenn.edu\/news-insights\/industrial-decarbonization-in-pennsylvania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions<\/a>. That could include electrifying buildings, replacing fossil fuel-burning equipment with electric appliances like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23301515\/heat-pump-faq-guide-heating-cooling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heat pumps<\/a>, installing technologies to capture CO2 emissions on-site, or turning to renewable energy. Today, Pennsylvania is the nation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/state\/print.php?sid=PA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second largest gas producer<\/a> and a key battleground state for the presidential election. They include efforts to slash pollution from transportation, the power grid, agriculture, waste, buildings, and industry. One project, for example, aims to build out EV charging infrastructure for commercial vehicles traveling along the I-95 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdot.maryland.gov\/OPCP\/CPRG_Proposal_April2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland<\/a> with nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/inflation-reduction-act\/states-new-jersey-connecticut-delaware-and-maryland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$250 million<\/a> in funding.
