The Beatles<\/a>, Sean Ono Lennon – whose mother is artist Yoko Ono – thinks it is important for “the world” to look at the “personal” nature of the music he wrote in his final years.<\/p>\nSean – who has been working on a re-release of John’s 1973 album ‘Mind Games’ – told The Sunday Times newspaper: \u201cOne thing that distinguishes my dad\u2019s solo career is how personal his lyrics became. <\/p>\n
“It is like a diary, and it is my duty to bring attention to my father\u2019s music. Not just my duty to him, but a duty to the world. <\/p>\n
“With the world as it is now, people have forgotten so many things that I never imagined could be forgotten. <\/p>\n
\n“I refuse to let that happen to this music \u2014 it means too much to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe record was written during a turbulent time in John’s life, when he had left wife Yoko, at her suggestion, for their assistant, May Pang, and was living in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
\nAnd despite the couple’s ups and downs, their son insisted their love for one another was always clear.<\/p>\n
\nSean, 48, said: \u201cTheir story is a love story. They found each other across a great divide and certainly struggled through ups and downs, but never doubted their love. <\/p>\n
\n“It is important we remember them as an example. Even through rough patches you can see my father thought about my mother. <\/p>\n
\n“They were simply, irrevocably intertwined.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, former Apple Records vice president Tony King believes John would still have been politically active and embracing new technology if he were still alive today.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cElton [John] and I talk about John. We say, \u2018I wonder what he\u2019d be up to?\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n“Well, he\u2019d have pounced on the internet and got into AI. And he\u2019d still campaign. I could see him hopping on a plane to see Zelensky. <\/p>\n
\n“He was a busy person, with an arresting personality. You\u2019re never going to forget him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
