Police in the UK have arrested a 17-year-old<\/a> boy in connection with last year\u2019s cyberattack on MGM Resorts<\/a>, as reported by the BBC<\/a> and 404 Media<\/em><\/a>. With the help of the FBI and the UK\u2019s National Crime Agency, the West Midlands Police took the teen into custody on Friday on suspicion of violating the UK\u2019s laws on hacking and blackmail.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The West Midlands Police say the suspect has been released on bail while the department investigates. It will also perform a forensic examination on a \u201cnumber of digital devices\u201d recovered from the teen\u2019s address in Walsall, England.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe FBI, in coordination with its partners, will continue to relentlessly pursue malicious actors who target American companies, no matter where they may be located or how sophisticated their techniques are,\u201d Bryan Vorndran, the assistant director of FBI\u2019s Cyber Division, says in a press release.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A report from Reuters<\/em><\/a> last year said that the FBI was aware of the casino hackers six months before the breach and that the agency \u201cstruggled\u201d to stop them despite knowing the identities \u201cof at least a dozen members.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
